A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to two years in prison after taking the life of a 79-year-old man in June, 2008.
On the day of the incident, the driver had been drinking all night and morning and was well beyond the legal limit for driving. His car went over the centre line and crashed into the other man’s vehicle. This man died at the scene.
The driver panicked and fled the accident on foot.
His two year prison sentence will be followed by two years probation. He is also banned from driving for seven years.
He had pleaded guilty to impaired driving causing death and failing to remain at the scene of an accident after a collision.
