Woman Under House Arrest After Fifth Impaired Driving Charge

A 65-year-old woman convicted of impaired driving for the fifth time, has been placed under house arrest after she blew more than two and a half times the legal limit.

The woman was arrested after witnesses saw her weaving around the road, and almost crashing into other vehicles. After police arrived, they smelled liquor and ordered a breathalyzer test. The legal limit is 0.08, and the woman blew a 0.230 and a 0.210.

The woman’s defense lawyer says the incident was a result of her prescribed painkillers reacting with alcohol, resulting in this behavior.

She will be confined to her house for the first 30 days, after which she will be placed on 24-month probation. She has also had her driver’s license suspended for 18 months.
