Drunk driver caught going 117 km/h near school

A 39-year-old Valley East woman is facing charges of stunt driving, impaired driving and blowing over the legal limit after she was arrested driving 117 km/h in a 60 km/h zone near Confederation Secondary School in Val Caron.

The woman admitted to speeding after being stopped by Greater Sudbury Police. She then offered a strange explanation, saying she was angry with a passing driver who splashed her car with water from a puddle, so she was “speeding up to give the girl the finger.”

The officer detected alcohol, and gave the woman a roadside-screening test, which she failed. The following breathalyzer test revealed she was at almost twice the legal limit.
